This spring both Canterbury City Council’s cleaning team, Canenco, and Canterbury BID have invested in new equipment to ensure that the city is looking at it’s best. With the Platinum Jubilee around the corner, events almost every weekend across the summer, and the Queen’s Baton Relay ensuring all eyes are on Canterbury, this additional cleaning equipment will be well used.
‘Thanks to our successful Low Carbon Grant application, Canterbury BID has been able to invest in a fantastic, eco-friendly cleaning machine that will help us provide additional cleaning in the city centre. We will tackle areas of the city that our businesses have been asking for help with and look forward to bringing the machine out onto the streets of Canterbury.’

Working collaboratively, the two teams will be targeting spots that have in the past been difficult to access and clean. Canterbury City Council currently provide street cleaning in all public areas, streets, car parks and parks. Their cleaning team is now equipped with a battery-powered street cleaner and a more versatile and a smaller machine to not only clean more surfaces throughout a day but to do it more efficiently, too.

And the BID’s new cleaning machine will provide an additional layer of cleaning, targeting areas like privately owned doorways, fire exits, shop fronts and much more. The fully electric, battery powered machine is able to collect large items like coffee cups, beer bottles and it is very powerful when it comes to removing cigarettes ends from in between slabs. It also has the capacity to clean bird’s residue as it is equipped with pressure sprayer.
