Utility Reduction Scheme Case Study

Over £100,000 of savings realised for local Canterbury businesses with BID funded utility reduction scheme in 2023-2024 delivered by Place Support Partnership (PSP).

PSP partners with Canterbury BID to deliver a Savings Scheme Service and aims to help the city’s businesses save money where needed.  The service was launched in May 2023 and is fully funded for BID members. The service includes cost effectively purchasing a range of products such as energy, telecoms, water, waste management and more. The service will also include identifying additional income generation opportunities and operating efficiencies where appropriate.

So what were the key results from the work so far?

  • £164,325 of savings identified for Canterbury businesses
  • £102,658 of savings realised
  • A nighttime economy business realised savings over £22,000 on energy costs
  • An independent cafe has saved over £3,000 on various utilities such as energy, water and telecoms, with the support of PSP
  • Over £4,000 of savings on merchant services for a local jewellers
  • Over 50 business 1-2-1 audits completed with a dedicated place consultant
