Proposed changes to car parking charges and regulations

The council is proposing to make a number of changes to its car parks, which would take effect from April 2019. The changes proposed for Canterbury are focused Whitefriars Car Park and the Coach Park.

Long Term Empty Premium Consultation 2018

The council is inviting your views on the Long Term Empty Premium Consultation 2018. New legislation has recently been passed to allow councils to charge a long-term empty premium of up to 100% on top of the council tax payable, in respect of domestic properties that have been left empty and substantially unfurnished for two years or more. This would take effect from April 2019 and means that if a property is empty and unfurnished for two years or more, council tax would be charged at 200% from 1 April 2019.
