We are truly delighted that Canterbury has emerged from hibernation and our wonderful businesses are open again. This weekend Canterbury attracted 29,230 visitors (an increase of 34% on the previous weekend) as we witnessed the opening of many hospitality businesses within the city and new safety measures were adopted to ensure that visitors could still enjoy all that the city has to offer within a safe, within a pleasurable shopping and dining environment.
We know it’s a long journey ahead, but we wanted to encapsulate the huge amount of positive feedback that many of you shared over the weekend so here is a snapshot of what our local businesses, and customers, were saying about our first steps back.

House of Agnes: “We’re open and COVID compliant – restaurants are open and we have wonderful open spaces with plenty of seating. Guests have already arrived are absolutely delighted to ‘get away’ at last.”

Loake Shoemakers: “It’s been more than 100 days since our craftsmen put down their tools at the start of lockdown, and this morning the familiar, magical sounds of our machines firing up, tools clinking and shoe racks rolling again has been nothing short of wonderful.”
