Westgate Gardens

THE CANTERBURY DUCK RACE IS BACK This family-friendly fundraiser is being held in the Westgate Gardens on  19 September with 4,000 plastic ducks, each sponsored for £1, floated in the water at Toddlers Cove, then 'raced' down the river Stour to the Westgate Gardens Bridge (ps, all plastic ducks are removed from the river at the end of the race!) This event is organised by the Rotary Club of Canterbury, with funds raised going to great causes. Dementia Action Alliance is holding a very special event Dementia: Ask the Experts at the Westgate Hall on 20 September, where you can go onboard the virtual tour bus to discover the latest research and your local support services. Night Time Economy City Centre Student Safety Hub

Safety Pop Up Hubs A pop up safety hub will be set up outside Macdonald's on busy nights of Freshers Week, this year it will be on Friday 24th September from 6pm-10pm. You can pick up free leaflets, download apps, pocket free giveaways and hear advice on personal safety. You can also hear about all the fantastic work the community and enforcement groups around the city do to keep students and residents safe on a night out, plus meet the teams responsible for keeping you and your friends safe. It is manned by the City Council with ambassadors from University and local teams. Come and say hello!
