Studio 3 Gallery, The University of Kent

BLACK BRITISH CULTURE IN PRINT The University of Kent is hosting an exploration of black British culture. The exhibition Where Are You From, From? British Culture in Print: 1800s-now. Running from the 10th-26th May 2023 at the Studio 3 Gallery, it chronicles the changes and continuities of Black identities in Britain from the black Victorians of the 19th century to predictions on the future state of black culture and representation.   Find out more

Zero Tolerance Training

Zero Tolerance is a completely FREE accreditation scheme designed for licensed venues in Canterbury City Centre, to show they are trained to recognise and tackle sexual harassment and discrimination aimed at both customers and staff.   Anyone frequenting a Zero Tolerance accredited venue can be reassured that staff are fully equipped with the guidelines and framework to keep them safe during their visit. The venues can also use this accreditation in their marketing, promotions and display materials.   The sessions are also designed in a useful ‘train a trainer’ way. This means managers and owners of evening and night-time economy venues (or designated members of staff) can attend the training and then deliver it themselves to existing and new members of staff. PRIDE CANTERBURY 2023

Canterbury City Centre & Dane John Gardens

Pride Canterbury is a spectacular celebration of LGBTQ+ identity for the whole family set in the heart of Canterbury. This year will celebrate the 50th anniversary since the first Pride march in Canterbury!   Featuring a parade through Canterbury High Street, followed by live entertainment with food and drink in the Dane John Gardens. Join 25,000 other people to come together to celebrate diversity, equality and progress.   Line-up includes pop sensations Liberty X, RuPaul's Drag Race superstars Danny Beard and Baga Chipz, Tiktok star Caity Baser plus West End stars Layton Williams and Miriam-Teak Lee. The event attracted more than 30,000 people last year, therefore to accommodate the crowds, a number of changes are being made with the event spread out over 2 days on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11, and the festival footprint extended to areas beyond the Dane John Gardens. Taste of Kent Festival & Awards Ceremony 2023

Open to any food and drink business located in Kent, the awards have been running for nearly twenty years –making them the longest running, and most prestigious food & drink awards in the South East   This year there is a new format, and the award categories have been refined into 3 key areas – Product / Taste Awards, Hospitality & Retail Awards and Business Awards.   The award ceremony itself has been completely revamped and is now extended to include a Taste of Kent Festival in the afternoon, and an Oscar Style Awards Ceremony in the evening – all at the amazing University of Kent’s Gulbenkian.
