Heritage and the Climate Crisis
Templeman Library Lecture Theatre, University of Kent University of Kent, Library Rd, CanterburyHERITAGE AND THE CLIMATE CRISIS: HOW PROTECTING THE PAST CAN SAVE THE FUTURE You are warmly invited to a talk by Henrietta Billings, director of SAVE Britain’s Heritage. She will outline the high-profile campaign to stop the demolition of Marks and Spencer’s landmark building on Oxford Street. This early twentieth century department store is at the centre of a raging debate over the future of our high streets and the climate crisis. Henrietta’s talk will chart the story so far – the campaign, the public inquiry and the implications for the future of high streets everywhere. The Heritage Lecture is an annual event, organised jointly by the Canterbury Society and the Centre for Heritage at the University of Kent. From 6.00 to 7.30 pm on Friday 6 October in the Templeman Library Lecture Theatre, University of Kent
