Annual Heritage Lecture: The Future of Canterbury’s World Heritage Sites, Neil McCullum, Head of Historic Properties, Kent Canterbury has been a World Heritage site since 1988 but has it made the most of this important status?   This talk will touch upon the challenges of bringing partners back round the table to find the common ground. The talk will also look to the future, what are the short and long term aspirations for the World Heritage Site partnership, what will the challenges be, and how can we engage the wider community of Canterbury to better understand and appreciate the value of the World Heritage Site   For more info click HERE

This Repair Cafe is an outreach event — at St Dunstan's Church Hall. Come along and learn how to mend clothes and repair broken things such as household objects, woodwork, toys, ceramics, electrical goods, computers/IT, bicycles etc. Volunteers with craft skills help to repair your things and show you how to do it — all for free, with free cake, tea and coffee too — what's not to like? We also have a Clothes Swap — swap something old (in good condition) for something different. There is an Energy Help Desk too — where you can get advice on how to reduce fuel bills by making your home more energy-efficient and save money: adding insulation and draught-proofing, solar panels and heat pumps etc Find out more here

United Nations Peace Service organised by Canterbury UNA

The annual United Nations Peace Service organised by Canterbury UNA will take place at Canterbury Cathedral on Sunday 23 October 530-630pm. This important public event will be attended by the Lord Mayor and many local community groups.   This year our keynote speaker is HE the High Commissioner of Namibia who is also Chair of the Commonwealth Board of Governors.   All are invited to attend in person.
